Palmer Lucky and his team at Oculus VR have not officially release pricing for the consumer Rift virtual reality headset yet. Even though they have assured us that their VR headset will start selling to the public in the first quarter of 2016. But it looks like Oculus CEO Brian Iribe have given us the price of the Rift headset.
In an interview with Re/Code's Walt Modddberg at the code annual conference today, Oculus VR CEO Brian Iribe said if you add the price of the Rift VR headset and a new PC, it will amount to $1500. Basically Iribe was trying to tell us indirectly that the Oculus Rift headset will cost as much as $500 apiece.
You will recall two weeks ago that Oculus announced the recommended specs for the Rift in order to get the full VR experience with your PC. Which are :NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater, Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater, 8GB+ RAM, Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output, 2x USB 3.0 ports and Windows 7 SP1 or newer.
Getting a PC with the above recommended specs could set you back $1000 or more. So automatically Iribe has confirmed that the consumer version of the Rift will cost $500. A little expensive than Samsung GearVR headset for the Note 4, S6 and S6 Edge.
