Not again! Samsung fell to No.2 in India's smartphone market

Just when we thought that Samsung has had enough with small phone makers in China, Micromax Infomatics ousted it to be Indian's leading mobile phone brand.

Micromax Infomatics, a new phone maker in India which started business in 2008, has forced the Korean Electronic and tech titan to leave its position as the nation's no.1 phone manufacturer, according to a report by Counterport Research. Micromax overtook Samsung during the April-June sales, gaining 16.6 percent market share, while the Korean firm settled with 14.4 percent---2 percent down from the previous month.

Two days ago, I learnt Xiaomi piped Samsung in China's smartphone market , shipping a staggering 15 million handsets in the second quarter, compared to Samsung's 13.2 million in that period.

Like Xiaomi, Micromax Infomatics is gaining market share in India because of its inexpensive phones that are comparable to the ones produced by the likes of Samsung and Apple.
