Passwords are too many and we sometimes tend to forget them. However MasterCard has found a way to make selfies replace passwords..
Are you pretty ? Do you have a handsome face? Do you feel comfortable about your looks? Then always have your phone with you each time you go shopping, because you are going to use your dashing good looks to make payments on the web or in physical stores.
Global payment Processor, MasterCard, is experimenting with facial recognition technology and your smartphone front-facing camera that would let you use your face to pay for goods and services, instead of typing in your CSC code or fingerprint along with your card number , as part of efforts to tighten the payment system. That's if the trial comes out positive.
MasterCard will test its new technology with 500 MasterCard holders by allowing them to take a picture of their face and and buy things online. The facial recognition scan will map the user’s face, convert it to 1s and 0s and transmit it over the Internet to MasterCard. The algorithm will be stored in the server and if it turns out well, it will make it available to all its cardholders.
How it works
When you walk into a store and and made a payment, you will asked to confirm the payment either with fingerprint or your face.If you choose to verify with your face, you will have to look at your phone's front camera and blink. The blinking part is to prevent Cyber criminals from using your photo to gain access to your account.
