Uber self-driving cars spotted in Pittsburgh, but not a self-driving car

In February, news broke out that Uber was developing its own driverless cars just like Google, Audi, Daimler etc. And that  a research centre for the project called ''Uber Advanced Technologies Center'' is under construction in partnership with Carnegi Mellon University.

Now it appears Uber is indeed very serious about building its own autonomous cars, as images taken by some people, showed a car driving around Pittsburgh bearing Uber logo alongside the words ''Uber Advanced Technologies Center'' on the side of the car, and a rotating device with sensor and cameras that look like a Lidar.
But sorry! The Uber self-driving car you saw earlier today, as many of you quickly assumed after seeing the things found on other driverless cars, and a safety driver on board , is not actually an autonomous vehicle. Rather it is Uber's early efforts regarding mapping, safety and autonomy system, according to what Uber revealed itself. But it is still part of Uber's project of having its own fleets of robotic vehicles on the road.

Uber  the ride-sharing company shocked everyone when it announced it would build a research centre in Pittsburgh to conduct extensive research on self-driving technology, and hopefully release its own Uber autonomous cars that could take on one of its biggest investors Google's self-driving cars.

Would you ride in Uber self-driving taxis? Let me know thoughts in the comments.
