Mercedes Benz and other car makers like Audi, already said we should expect to see self-driving cars in our streets as from 2030; even though search giant Google is optimistic that they could come as early as 2017. By the way, Daimler, Mercedes parent company, already shown off its self-driving 'Future' trucks last year.
The Internet of Things will take an ugly turn as hackers, cyber swat teams, advertisers and terrorists run amok through citizens' and nations' refrigerators, heating systems, power grids, and pacemakers.

Audi became the first automaker to get a special permit from the California Department of Motor Vehicles to test its self-driving cars on public roads in the state. Audi, including Google and other car makers, got their permits yesterday. Yesterday marked the day that the State's new regulations governing the testing of robotic vehicles come into effect--which include that a human driver must always be behind the wheel of an autonomous car in case something goes wrong. The permit now allows California to sit on the high table with Michigan, Nevada and Florida, which already accept the testing of these vehicles on public roads.

Not so fast! Google made to realized that self-driving cars still need brakes, pedals and steering wheel
In May, Google unveiled a two-seater self-driving prototype without manual controls: No steering wheel, pedals and brakes--but can be controlled with just the push of a button. The web giant revealed that it would build 100 or so of that model. The autonomous car doesn't require the input of a human driver because, according to Google, they will rely on its software and sensors to do all the work.

Vision come into reality: Google,Volvo begun testing their self-driving cars in city streets
Who can be more prophetic than Bank PHB? Bank PHB( Platinium Habib Bank) predicted that one day cars will drive themselves in one of its TV commercials eight years ago( even though it couldn't predict that one day Bank PHB will change to Keystone bank). LOW COST SELF-DRIVING CAR UNVEILED BY OXFORD UNIVERSITY
Truth be told, even as a tech-blogger, I never believed that one day cars will eventually drive themselves someday. I taught that if cars should drive themselves someday.., that will be the end of technology. But two years after, I was proven wrong. Cars do drive themselves.
Recently, the Oxford University unveiled a low cost self-driving car. Dubbed RobotCar, knows when to offer a helping to the driver when driving on routes it has already traveled using an iPad mounted on the dashboard.
Unlike Google self-driving cars that uses Global positioning system, GPS, to recognize their surroundings, The RobotCar uses laser and small cameras mounted on each sides of the car.
As at this moment, the system cost around 5000 British pound, but in future, they hope to reduce it to 500 British pounds.
The RobotCar is undergoing test drive in the UK.
