Microsoft's HoloLens team streamed Oculus Rift launch event with HoloLens headset

When Oculus VR was unveiling the final make of its consumer Rift virtual reality headset in San Francisco on Thursday, and revealed a new partnership with Microsoft, that will see it ship every unit of the Rift VR headset along with Microsoft's Xbox One wireless game controllers, some people didn't attend the  Rift launch event in person

Among such people were the brains behind Microsoft's Hololens. Rather than riding from Redmond to San Franciso, these guys stayed at home and guess what? They put on the device and streamed the entire event live from Microsoft's holographic computer Hololens. It was surreal.

Xbox boss Phil Spenser revealed this in an interview with IBTimes.''This partnership allows us to focus on a space that's different from them with our HoloLens, which has a lot of things still to be figured out," he told the International Business Times. "This partnership seemed like the right [thing] for me. The whole HoloLens team sent me a picture--they actually watched the briefing with the Hololens on, streaming the picture on the wall. It's like the most surreal thing, but they were all really excited about the show."

So what so special about one streaming an event with an head-mounted display? Microsoft's HoloLens headset display allows you to bring to life and interact with HD holograms in the real world. It can also be used to play games and even make videos calls.
