The biggest technology show of the year, the Consumer Electronics Show(CES 2015) will take place next week at 'Sin City' Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It's a show where over 150,000 geeks from around the world converge at Las Vegas to see the latest offerings from big names like Sony, Samsung, LG, Audi,Panasonic, Sharp, Kodak etc. As you all know, this year's event will be spread across three areas to allow for less commute. Ho,ho, ho! Oculus to show off consumer Crescent Bay VR headset at CES 2015
Oculus CEO Brenda Iribe had said at the Web Summit in Ireland last month that the consumer model of the Rift Virtual Reality Headset is ''months, not years away, but many months.'' But, according to an email we received from an anonymous tipster, Facebook-owned Oculus will show off the consumer version of the Crescent Bay headset at next month's Consumer Electronics Show(CES2015) in Las Vegas, USA. The tipster, who is familiar with Oculus plans, says the final model will be lighter, fully equipped with controllers and will cost $350 and beyond. The VR headset will immediately go on sale in the US after Facebook tries it for ''social ecommerce.''

Gbam! Samsung GearVR headset 'Innovator Edition' goes on sale today
Oculus CEO Brendan Iribe may have said a consumer version of their VR headset will come out in months, but Korean technology juggernaut Samsung has just brought theirs to the market. The Samsung Gear VR headset is available to anyone in the US for $200--it sells exclusively on Samsung's website and US phone company AT&T. Time for some real-life virtual reality gaming.

Samsung Project Beyond camera lets you shoot 360 3D video of places anywhere in the world.
There is a new3D 360 camera from Samsung that will let you take photos and shoot high definitions videos of places anywhere in the world just right from where you are standing or sitting. Samsung calls this camera Project Beyond and it works with its GearVR headset.

The company did not give out details as to the exact date the device will go on sale or its pricing, but, from what we have heard earlier, the GearVR could cost as much as $200 apiece.

The start-up just came out of the blue and seduced Google and others into splashing out millions of dollars to bring its out-of-this world concept to life. I like the idea---combining mobile computing, virtual reality and augmented reality into one technology.

Oculus VR unveils new Crescent Bay prototype of its Rift VR headset

Samsung announces Galaxy Note 4/Edge and a Gear VR
I wasn't suppose to blog today but the alarm on my phone clued me in on the Galaxy Note 4 launch, and I was surprised to see that the company also unveiled a VR headset. Sony and Google better watch out.
After all the rumours and speculations, Samsung today showed off new phablets and a Virtual Reality Headset at its UNPACKED event held at IFA tech show in Berlin , Germany---just days before the event officially kicks off.

When you combine augmented and Virtual reality in a helmet, you turn fighter pilots into super humans
Fighter pilots have just gotten a new helmet. BAE systems has unveiled its futuristic Striker II helmet for aircraft pilots. The head mounted display combines both augmented and virtual reality, to make the combat pilot feel as though he is in a visual world. It also uses head tracking technology---An impressive feature that makes it different from other existing pilot helmets.

Samsung to unveil ''rumored'' Virtual reality headset at IFA 2014 trade show
In May, US tech blog Engadget reported that Samsung is working with Oculus VR to build its own virtual reality headset. While many, at that time, did not buy Engadget's claim, it now appears that indeed Samsung is actually working on a VR headset. A report from Sammobile suggests that the Korean company will debut its head mounted display at IFA trade show in Berlin, come September. The product is being developed in partnership with Facebook-owned Oculus VR.
