The version 7.0 software update on the Model S will allow the car to automatically park itself in the garage and drives on its own while on the highway. The software update will be released to Model S owners all over the world this Thursday.Musk says the latest software update comes with Lots of upgrades and a new look on its 17-inch dashboard screen, although main UI(User Interface) upgrade coming with V 7.1
In August Tesla Motors tested its autopilot 7.0 software with some select owners of the Model S sedan. Tesla software autopilot takes the driving decisions away from the human driver on the freeways, but still allowing them to keep an eye on the car. It basically a combination of adaptive cruise control and lane keeping otherwise called Traffic Aware Cruise Control.
Tesla says it would successfully roll out the version 7.0 software with autopilot to all Model S drivers the world over within 5 days. It will push the latest update over WiFi and, so there wouldn't be any need for you to drive into their service centre to get it.
