It seems Google is allowing users of its social network Google Plus and video-sharing site YouTube with or more then 500 subscribers to have their own custom URL. A friend of mine just received an email from Google about this. It You can use these custom URLs on your website, blogs, emails or where else you promote what you do, be it online or offline
Google gave a reason why you should claim your own URL.
''As YouTube's community has grown, we've seen things get complicated out there. We want to reduce issues like 'land-grabbing' of common words and brands, and make custom URLs available to more people who will benefit from them in a fair and equal way.''
