Seriously I couldn't believe what I saw when Tim Cook, Apple's CEO announced at yesterday spring forward event that the 18-Karat Gold Apple Watch Edition would cost interested buyers $10,000 and--wait for it--even goes for $17,000 for the most expensive models. That's a ridiculous amount of money for something that you wear around your wrists.
Why would I buy something that tells the time, works with my iPhone before it could make or receive phone calls, a battery that lasts just 18-hours and might even be out of vogue or obsolete a year later? Sounds so stupid to me. I would rather used that money to buy a race horse, a 2006 Range Rover Sport model etc. or even buy an engagement ring(maybe not)
If Apple says it is essential I get its smart watch, why then do I have my iPhone? Or do they want me to use it to monitor my heart rate? Why not build a fitness band to do all of that instead. Is this what Steve Jobs wanted?
When Google showed us its smart eyewear Glass, many of us loved the augmented reality device but it died two years after it was showed off by Sergey Brin, Google's co-founder. Why? It died because Google placed a ridiculous price tag on Glass, it sold for $1500 apiece. That price pushed interested buyers away from something that was cool and high tech. I think Apple Watch will go the way of Google Glass.
