A pipe dream:Uber would buy 500,000 self-driving cars Tesla plans to build in the next five years

A Majority of auto makers have  pledged to bring fully autonomous or self-driving cars to the public by 2020. While Jaguar Land Rover won't be a part of the future, at least for saying it wouldn't make self-driving car because it doesn't consider customers cargo--a cab company plague by all manner of class action lawsuits plans to get as many as 500,000 self-driving cars from an electric car maker by 2020.

Computerworld quoted a Tesla board member named Steve Jurvetson as saying that Uber CEO Travis Kalanick told him that Uber wants to buy all of Tesla's self-driving cars.Jurvetson passed on  to the audience(venture capitalists) what Tesla's CEO told him, at the 17th annual Top 10 Tech Trends dinner, which was held recently in San Jose, CA.

''Travis recently told me that in 2020, if Tesla's are autonomous, he would want to buy all of them. He said 500,000 of estimated 2020 production, I'd want them all.'' Jurvetson went on to say ''But he couldn't get a return call from Elon Musk.''

Perhaps Musk refused to return his call owing to the fact that he thinks Tesla would be silly to sell  500,000 autonomous taxis to Uber when they can offer a competing service and put those juicy profits Uber collects in their own pocket.
