Could ''GG1' be the new Google Glass headset

Long time no see.

Google Inc shut down sells of its augmented reality gadget Glass and it would make a new version of the smart eyewear from the ground up. Google later revealed that Nest CEO Tony Fadell would oversee the next phase of the Glass project for a redesigned, proud to wear headset which will be out this year. And it seems we have gotten a glimpse of the new headset.

A keen observer at Droid-Life said he spotted a filing that Google successfully tested a gadget with a rectangular screen that looks very similar to its Glass at the FCC--the organization in the United States that certify if the radios in a product are safe for humans-- but couldn't make out if truly it is the new headset. According to what he read in the filing, the device had the FCC ID or model name as A4R-GG1 and can be worn on the face like Glass.
It is easy to doubt that the gadget described in the document is the new version of Google Glass. That is because, for instance, the FCC normally mobile products either as smartphones or wearables. But in this case, it lists it as “BLUETOOTH & DTS/UNII a/b/g/n/ac” with model name “GG1.” It supports Bluetooth LE, 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac wifi-band in 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It has rechargeable, unchangeable batteries and AC charger and USB cable. Anyone could say it is Google Glass if they should go by the model name ''GG1.''

Google and the Federal Communications Committee don't want anyone to have a clue about the upcoming Google Glass. For example the model name 'GG1'' that's suppose to appear on the gadget can only be seen when you navigate deep into the device software. In other words, it is an e-label.

Nevertheless, whether they hide the concrete facts from us the document in the filing has given us a hint that surely   Google Glass 2.0 could launch anytime soon. Remember Google chairman Eric Schmdt revealed in an interview some months back that Google Glass is too important a project for the Mountain View company to throw away.
