The Ideas that Shaped Management in 2013

The Ideas that Shaped Management in 2013
t’s always tempting at this time of year to try to make a definitive list of the best ideas from the past 12 months. But then we end up debating what counts as best — important? useful? original? all three? — and compiling extremely long lists, struggling to shorten them, and over-thinking it all, when the point should just be to gather some really good reading for you for any free time you happen to find over the holiday. So this year, instead, we thought about the pieces that most surprised us or provoked us to think differently about an intractable problem or perennial question in management, we reviewed the whole year of data to remind ourselves what our readers found most compelling, and we looked for patterns in the subjects our authors raised most frequently and independently of our editorial urging.  The result, I think, is a set of ideas that together are important, useful, and original, and that feel like quite an accurate account of the management concerns many of us shared in 2013.

Not again: Big loophole found in Samsung Mobile security platform

Not again: Big loophole found in Samsung Mobile security platform
Earlier this month, Samsung updated its mobile security platform Knox in order to fix a bug found on the Galaxy Note 3. At that time, Samsung told us the flaw posed 'serious' security threats and assured that users of the device need not worry since the flaw had been fixed. Many of us took it with a grain of salt. Now, after that terror , a big loophole existed and was left unaddressed which could let those bad boys(hackers) to access secure data and track communications of people, should they installed their malicious software.

These mentioned telecom operators should be fined heavily by the Nigeria Communication Commission.

Shoppers choice: Microsoft Surface 2 and Surface Pro sold out
If we do the count down to Christmas now, we have just a week and two days to go. Christmas is at hand. That means so many shoppers are busy getting things in readiness for Christmas. As a tech Blogger, I wouldn't think the two new tablets will  make their presence known to us. No one would expect the Surface 2 and Surface Pro tablets to outsell other tablets this yuletide. But we are wrong.

For the newbie: 6 things you need to do with your new Android tablet

Here's a look at the first six things you should do with your tablet right after purchase.

1.  Setup and link your Google account, including G services like Voice, GMusic, etc.  Learn how these products link to your tablet, like saving routes in the browser GMaps and using them on the device.

2.  Install an AV product.  If you have a newer, fast device, you should go ahead and put AV on the device.  I don't see any need to pay for a product at this time.  Lookout is what I use but I am not married to that one.  These can also help locate your device is lost or stolen.

Facebook to make private chat public to brands
Brands know that customers are always talking about them on Facebook; whether they satisfy them or not. But the worst part of it all is that they do not know what these people are saying about them because their chats is invisible. Windows to overtake IOS in three years time.

Windows to overtake IOS in three years time.
I quite agree with Forbes Mark Fidelman, who said Microsoft Windows mobile operating system could overtake Apple iOS in as little as three years. Yeah it calls for some serious thinking no doubt, but if you take a closer look at the market right now, you will see Windows is gradually catching up with iOS, hitting 3.6% of the market share by the third quarter of this year, where iOS ended the quarter by 12.9%, is something to write home about.
