Few days ago I told you guys that Samsung will launch its sixth smartwatch ahead of the IFA trade show in Berlin and yes, Samsung kept to its word by releasing the Galaxy Gear S that sport a 2-inch  Super AMOLED curved display, today. The new smartwatch from Samsung, indeed has its own inbuilt 3G and Wi-Fi technology that will allow you to make and receive phone calls without having to pair with a smartphone---unlike the other Gear smartwatches. What could be more painful than your kids ignoring your calls when you need them so bad to do something. It's frustrating.

A Texas mom went through that ordeal and she brought herself out of it by developing an Android app that will allow parents to remotely lock their kid's phone if they refuse to return your calls. They can only regain access after obtaining a special password from you.

As Big SAM gets set to take on Apple's iPhone 6 with its Galaxy Note 4 phablet, LG is also planning to upset the Korean tech giant apple cart with a mid-range smartphone. LG has announced the G3 Stylus Android smartphone, which will be officially launch at IFA 2014 in Berlin, Germany. The new G3 smartphone will come with an S Pen-like stylus.

It is no longer news that Apple will launch two new larger iPhones--a 4.7-inch and a 5.5-inch models--- but what is making the rounds right now is that a 12.9-inch iPad is reportedly in the works.

An article by Businessinsider about a Google programmer who turned down a $500,000 salary at a startup, because he earns $3 million per year from Google really got me thinking. Any opinion?
  

Nigeria biggest telecom operator MTN Nigeria has launched two new Android smartphones aimed at low income earners, the MTN Sm@rt  Mini S620 and Sm@rt S720p.

If you have been wondering why you just can't upgrade your smartphone to the new released version of Android Operating System, when almost all of iPhone users have switched to the latest version of 1OS, here's the reason.

This one is quite different from the one that surfaced last month. Anyway Sammobile posted this supposedly image of Samsung's first Virtual Reality Headset Gear VR on its website. It says it is the production unit and it has a model number SM-R320. See another photo...

I cannot confirm that but it is what everybody seems to be talking about. In fact specs of Samsung Galaxy Gear 3 smartwatch has already been leaked.  A site claims that Samsung will launch its sixth smartwatch with the Galaxy Note 4 phablet at next month's IFA trade show in Berlin, Germany. That is a day before the big event.

I went through my blog archive today and I pulled out this post. As you can see in the above image, this is a single passenger self-driving car from Hitachi. ROPITS as it called by the company was built for the aged in Japanese. Now before Google had plans of a two passenger car, Hitachi had already unveiled the ROPITS(Robots for personal Intelligent Transport System).

As the saying goes, ''The proof of the pudding is in the eating'' so this lucrative business is not for me(for now). But if you have an Oculus Rift, as a developer, then you are good to go. Facebook will pay to find bugs on Oculus VR virtual reality headset Oculus Rift.

There is a 15-year old guy in my hood who has been picking my brain for days now. He told me his friends at school find him weird for not having a Facebook account at his age. So, to not appear weird he wants to be on Facebook. But His parent do not agree to it because he is still young. Now he wants me to set up for him. On my part, I have tried everything I can to persuade him to give it up, but the kid is still bugging me. Please am tired, what should I do.

 In May, Google unveiled a two-seater self-driving prototype without manual controls: No steering wheel, pedals and brakes--but can be controlled with just the push of a button. The web giant revealed that it would build 100 or so of that model. The autonomous car doesn't require the input of a human driver because, according to Google, they will rely on its software and sensors to do all the work.

It looks like Apple is not the only smartphone maker opting for a sapphire glass. China ''Apple'' Xiaomi is reportedly sourcing sapphire glass for the display cover of its ''limited edition premium smartphone.'' This report is coming out of South Korea newspaper Electronic Times, while not disclosing the source of the information because it is not yet official.

Last year, it was reported that to have its popular Windows Phone operating system on its smartphone. It even offered the OS to HTC at no cost. Now it appears the two reached an agreement, and the Taiwanese smartphone maker has launched the Windows version of its Android flagship device the One M8.

Some guys over at gossip site TMZ claim to have gotten the factory unit of Apple's new iPhone from the company chief supplier Foxconn in China.

The latest data on global smartphone market share from  market tracker IDC suggests that a total of 300 million smartphones were shipped during the second quarter of 2014. Of the 301 million shipped, more than 255 million units were Android-powered smartphones, while Apple shipped 35.5 million iOS smartphones(the iPhone)

A new smartphone maker has just stepped its foot into the Indian smartphone market. The company kick started its campaign with the launch of a new budget phone, the 3G  Dual SIM  Reconnect smartphone priced at Rs13,000.

You will recall that in March I told you guys are planning on selling off their mobile  tower networks, a new report has it that MTN Group is close to selling  its cell towers in Nigeria to IHS Holding ltd.

Samsung officially took the wraps off its first full metal-frame smartphone Wednesday, the Galaxy Alpha. The latest Samsung flagship phone has a 4.7-inch Higher Definition super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. The screen size of the device is the same for the rumoured iPhone 6.

It now seems that the days of paying exorbitant amounts of money for a car in Nigeria are numbered, as Stallion Group delivers the first batch of Nigerian-made models of Hyundia cars on Sunday. It said the cars were manufactured and assembled here in Nigeria and they already up for sale at reasonable prices.

Bloomberg reported on yesterday that Apple's suppliers has commence mass production of the company's upcoming iPads---the iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini---and they are expected to be launched at the end of this quarter or early next. The  stock of the bigger iPad , which will sport a 9.7-inch display, might be limited because of the use of a new anti-reflective screen coating to make the screen easier to view in bright sunlight.

An app that promises to change the colour of your  Facebook profile has left many users accounts and computers vulnerable to malware attacks. The app infect both PC and Mobile users. Chinese internet security firm, Cheetah Mobile, uncovered the mischievous app and dubbed it ''Facebook Colour Scam.''

I don't just understand. Tablets like the Asus FonePad and Nexus 7 can make and receive phone calls; come with the same specs seen in most high-end smartphones(even higher) and even cheaper. If tablets can perform same functions as smartphones and  cheap, why are they still  so much more expensive than tablets.

Land Rover has unveiled its newest car the 2015 Range Rover Sport SVR today, and will officially debut at  Pebble Beach on August 14. It is arguably the most powerful and fastest SUV to hit the market. It can reach reach speeds of up to 162 mph on the track with its 22-inch alloy wheels and  goes from 0-60 mph in under 4.5 seconds ; all thanks to a 550hp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine. Hp (Or Hewlett-Packard) has jump on the smartwatch bandwagon. The computer maker is reportedly partnering with online retailer Gilt.com, and fashion designer Michael Bastian to build a luxury smartwatch that would be compatible with both Android and iOS devices via a companion app.

On August 3, 1977 — 37 years ago today — Radio Shack announced its first personal computer. Later models made this TRS-80 Model I, which came equipped with 4KB of RAM, cassette-tape storage, and a built-in BASIC interpreter. Along with Commodore’s PET and Apple’s Apple II, the TRS-80 was one of the first mass-produced personal computers. In this early period for microcomputers, most units came in kit form and appealed more to hobbyists. These fully complete personal computers were the first to address the average person and became quite popular in schools.

Xiaomi Mipad

4-year old Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, fondly called ''China's Apple,'' has overtaken Korean Electronics giant Samsung to claim the prize of leading smartphone vendor in the Asian country, that is according to data from market research firm Canalys.
