Strategy Analytics says the two phone makers were neck and neck in the same period with the two companies shipping same number of handsets and held 19% market share. International Data Corporation(IDC), on the other hand, says it was a near tie. But noted that Samsung still remains world's biggest smartphone vendor

No public company in the world has ever recorded such a profit in three months. Apple  made history when it revealed on Tuesday that it sold a staggering 74.4 million iPhone 6 smartphones in the last quarter of 2014, and raking in $18 billion in net profit and $74.6 billion in revenue.

Well, it was earlier thought to ship in the United States of America in March, but we just heard from the horse mouth that Apple's will release its Apple Watch in April. Gay CEO of the company Timothy Cook made the announcement during the company's first quarter earnings call this morning.

Samsung and HTC are not the only companies to show off new smartphones at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain come March 2. Chinese smartphone maker, Huawei Technologies. has revealed that it will unveil the Successor to the Ascend P7, the P8, and the Ascend Mate 7 Mini, called the  Huawei Mate7 Compact. It looks like Huawei will let go of the Ascend branding on its next flagship handset this time around.

I believe by now you are aware that Twitter has enabled tweet translation across its Microblogging platform. All you have to do is pair your  Android,Windows or BlackBerry smartphone with WhatsApp installed to your computer. And you can start sending messages to your friends and love ones as you would on your smartphone.

Your favourite instant messaging application WhatsApp is reportedly banning its users who download and install the Android app,WhatsApp Plus, a third party app that allows users to modify chat screens and other features not supported in official WhatsApp. The ban lasts for 24 hours.

I have said it so many a time that Samsung is way ahead of Apple, but you guys find it so hard to agree with me. Apple's visual control technology patent is somewhat similar to the smart scroll feature on the Galaxy S4. Yes, the S4 for that matter. The Smart Scroll feature uses the front camera to sense when you are looking at your device, and it scrolls through content such as lists, webpages, and messages based on the angle you hold the device. Still in doubt? To activate Smart Scroll, from the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > My device > Smart screen > Smart scroll. Touch the slider to turn Smart Scroll on .  Apple is just a copycat!

News coming from Blommberg has it that Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC will launch a new smartphone called the One M9 with a 20-MP rear camera, an Ultrapixel(4MP or below) front camera and audio features, and also a fitness-focused smartwatch at Mobile World Congress in March.

Yes, I just found out that Google will stop selling the current version of its $1500 internet-connected eyewear called Glass to interested buyers as from tomorrow. This is to make room for a more improved model of the wearable device(which is expected to sell later this year under CEO of Nest Labs Tony Fadell. It has recently announced that it will shut down the Google Glass Explorer program.

Before I proceed, let me ask you a question: How much time do you spend on Facebook? Personally, I don't even know how much time I spend on the online social networking service. But, if I should make a guess I think nowadays,due to the nature of my job, I spend 3 hours on Facebook. Oh,I was wrong! from what this app stats shows---6 hours. That's so bad of me.

As I said before, wearables and self-driving cars are the most anticipated technologies of 2015. And LG and Audi showed us that a wearable device can work hand in hand with a driveless car. A smartwatch is not just for sending emails, surfing the net, make phone calls etc. but can also be used to control a car.

The Federal Government says it plans to connect 50 percent of the country's population to 3G mobile broadband services this year. To achieve this dream that many think may never materialized, the Federal government is aiming to complete Phase 1 of a wireless broadband infrastructure upgrade and expansion project, which is part of the National Broadband Plan (2013-2018), by year-end.

Instant messaging app  WhatsApp has climbed to 700 million active users each month, co-founder  and CEO Jan Koum broke the news in Facebook post. He also announced that  30 billion messages are sent everyday through the mobile messaging app. WhatsApp now has more users on its platform than Facebook---its parent company--- messaging app, Facebook messenger. That's a huge leap from 600 million users in August last year.
Time for monetization, WhatsApp?

Ever since Apple unveiled the Apple Watch alongside the iPhone 6 and iPhone Plus handsets, Apple fanboys had been bursting to know the date the device would go on sale. But it appears the wait is almost over as report from 9to5Mac has it that the smartwatch will go on sale in the United States in March.

Sony Corp brought back the Walkman audio player  from the dead at the on-going Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas yesterday, but in a new model that differs from the old in many respects. This new Walkman NW-ZX2 offers high-resolution audio and comes with 128GB of inbuilt storage with a micro-SD card slot to expand memory up to 256GB and Bluetooth-enabled headphones. It runs on the outdated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating and plays your favourites music for 60 hours. But Sony's Walkman doesn't come cheap like the previous ones, it sells for a staggering $1,443(that's twice the price of the iPhone 6 smartphones). Would you buy?

It seems Google is allowing users of its social network Google Plus and video-sharing site YouTube with or more then 500 subscribers to have their own custom URL. A friend of mine just received an email from Google about this. It You can use these custom URLs on your website, blogs, emails or where else you promote what you do, be it online or offline

Mercedes Benz and other car makers like Audi, already said we should expect to see self-driving cars in our streets as from 2030; even though search giant Google is optimistic that they could come as early as 2017. By the way, Daimler, Mercedes parent company, already shown off its self-driving 'Future'  trucks last year.

Chipmaker Nvidia unveiled the world's most powerful mobile chip the Tegra X1(Heard it offers one teraflop of processing power) at the on-going Internal Consumer Electronics Show and says it will let cars to drive themselves.

Chines PC maker Lenovo has just revealed on its Twitter handle that it  shipped 100 millionth ThinkPad computer , which all started in 1992 with the ThinkPad 700, and celebrated the unique milestone machine by naming it ''Eve.'' Lenovo says Eve would have her own Twitter page where she will send out tweets of what's going around her to her fans through out the year.

Wearable technology and Internet of Things(Connected homes) will be the highlights of this year's Consumer Electronic Show. And a wearable did just that on Sunday.

 Belty,  a smart belt that uses built-in 'tiny' motors to fasten itself when you are sitting down and releases when you take in more than what your stomach can hold, is getting everyone's attention at CES Unveiled. The Belty ''smart belt'' is the brain child of French startup Emiota and is due to be out later this year.

Dell's Venue 8 700  series tablet, which is the world's thinnest tablet at 6mm, has won the 2015 CES innovation award Best of Innovation honoree. Laura P. Thomas, chief blogger for the company's corporate blog Direct2dell.com, broke the news in a blog post on Sunday.

Do you like an Android phone? Yes. Windows? Yes.FireFox?Yes, a little bit. But the downside, I can't  have all of them in one phone. It would cost me so much to buy these phones.Oh wait a minute, you don't need to feel sad because Alcatel has a new smartphone called the Pixie 3 that run all three operating systems--Android, Windows and  FireFox--and it is available in four sizes: 3.5-inch, 4-inch, 4.5-inch and 5-inch. The smartphones support 3G and LTE(4G).

Like me, most of you guys haven't tried  out  Oculus Rift Crescent Bay virtual reality headset nor Samsung's GearVR yet. That's because the Oculus Crescent Bay headset prototype is only available to developers; and Samsung's GearVR is available only in the US. Besides it is quite expensive. First, you have to pay $700 or so to get the Galaxy Note 4 phablet and then $200 for the GearVR. Remember the two work hand in hand.

The biggest technology show of the year, the Consumer Electronics Show(CES 2015) will take place next week at 'Sin City' Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It's a show where over 150,000 geeks from around the world converge at Las Vegas to see the latest offerings from big names like Sony, Samsung, LG, Audi,Panasonic, Sharp, Kodak etc. As you all know, this year's event will be spread across three areas to allow for less commute. Two Miami residents, Christopher Endera and Paul Orshan, have filed a class action lawsuit against US tech giant Apple over claims that the company lied about  the amount of storage space left on its 16GB iPhones, iPods and iPads after upgrading their mobile devices from iOS 7 to iOS 8 operating system. They say the amount of user space available is less than what the company advertised.

Tizen operating system hasn't gotten much attention as it deserves. But its maker Samsung is not ready to give up on it. The South Korean tech giant spilled the beans about its upcoming smart TVs, revealing that they will run its ''not-yet-successful'' Tizen operating system this year.
