German Defense Minister's thumbprint stolen using only photographs

So your belief is using your thumb to unlock your iPhones and Galaxy smartphones is the most secure way to keep people away from accessing your devices? I think you might want to drop that belief after reading this. Someone just stole the fingerprints of German Defense Minister Ursula Von Der Layer using a regular camera.Yes, you read that right.

That someone is Jan Krisller, a hacker, who also happens to be a member of the Chaos Computer Club, another infamous hacker group after the Anonymous and Lizard Squad, demostrated this at the club convention held on Saturday. Anyway Krisller said he was able to replicate the thumbprint of the German Defense Minister by taking a few photos of her thumb at different angles at public events she spoke at. He then used  commercially available software called Verifinger with other materials---including wood glue or latex milk and transparent sheet-- to cloned the fingerprint of the German Defense Minister. Of course he successfully used it to bypass biometric fingerprint scanners.

Now, do you remember when Apple released the iPhone 5S with fingerprint sensor and boasted that no one could break  it, and then someone did? That guy who brought Apple TouchID fingerprint lock to its knees is the same person we are talking about, Krisller(Also known as Starbug). And he used same technique for this one.

Jan Krisller says politicians would start wearing gloves as soon as they hear of his revelation. So, to the politicians and celebrities out there, I think you guys should start wearing gloves when taking pictures in public or waving.
