The world's biggest chipmaker Intel has been showing some signs of getting into the wearable business for a while now. At least to make up for not dominating the tablet and smartphone market. It released two wearable products two months ago--the MICA smart bracelet and the peak fitness and sleep tracker--- and again, developed a tiny computer for wearable devices known as Edison.
Report from the Wall Street Journal has it that the next-generation of Google Glass will be powered by Intel's processors. These chips will replace the ones currently inside Glass made by Texas Instrument. They will offer more RAM and Google Glass will have long-life batteries.
Besides producing chips for Google Glass, Intel will also market the smart eyewear to businesses(maybe as a personal assistant to factory workers, doctors, nurses etc. who want to do things hands-free). This will replace the search giant's initiative for enterprise known as Glass at Work. Glass at Work comprises of certified developers creating Glassware for businesses to enable them achieve their goals. Right now the only Glass at Work certified partners are GuidiGo, wearable technology, APX and Augmedix.
Google is expected to launch Google Glass in early 2015 after two years on the face of testers, otherwise known as ''Google Glass Explorers.''
