Well, that's what you parent get for not explaining a bit more on what a settlement entails. However the kid screwed up big time.
A teen's Facebook post cost her family $80,000. The teen, Dana Snay, got to know that her dad had won against her former school, Gulliver Preparatory School, in an age-discrimination lawsuit and was awarded $80,000. Upon receiving the news from her Father, she took to Facebook to break the news to her 1200 friends, ''Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver. She then joking said ''Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT.''
Unknown to her, her dad had signed a settlement agreement not to tell anyone. The settlement goes this way. ''We pay you $80,000. You give up your right to sue us. You also promise to keep silent about this agreement, and return the money if you don't.'' What a settlement!
Watching every moves the family made closely, Gulliver found the daughter post and refuse to pay the money because the father violated the settlement. Gulliver then filed an appeal. On Wednesday the Florida court of appeal ruled in its favour.
So over to you, what can you learn from this?
