Internet security researcher Palo Alto Networks has just uncovered a new malware called WireLurker that targets devices using Apple iOS mobile operating system and Mac OS X. The WireLurker malware is already raking havoc to thousands of Apple devices in China.
The Malicious software is pretty smart in that it enters an iOS device once it connects to an infected Mac computer or laptop via a USB cable. WireLurker finds its way through a Macintosh device by way of infected apps downloaded from a third party Mac App store called Maiyadi.
So far, there are over 400 infected Mac apps and they have been downloaded and installed more than 350,000 times, that is according to the security firm.
