Now you can access your favourite telecommunication app Skype from the web just as you would Facebook. Microsoft announced in a blog post today that users can sign in to Skype from a web browser like Internet Explorer, Safari, FireFox etc. The company released the beta version of Skype for web to a few users today. And hopefully it will reach more Skype users soon.
But, in order for you to make video and voice calls with your friends on Skype for web at this point in time, you have to download a plug-in to your computer or mobile device. The reason for this is because Microsoft has yet to make the service compatible with WebRTC, which enables real-time audio and video communication from one browser to another without the need of external or internal plug-ins.
