Recent findings by Researchers at University of Western Ontario will enable them to build a mind-reading computer that would lets us communicate with those in coma. The team were able to find answers as to how we could better communicate with coma patients by carrying out a study about what we are thinking.
They asked the participants to answer questions on a ''Yes'' or ''No'' response without speaking it, but only think their response.
They answered questions as shown in the scanner, and their response without speaking it. Whereupon the researchers studied their brain activity as they give answers to the questions shown, and were able to translate the correct answers for each participant.
The team are now using this method to communicate with people in coma.
