Curious experiment lands student in Police detention and even expelled

As science students', it is common try experiment after the day's lesson. But at times, the way we go about it might land us in big trouble if not expelled from school. Our sole aim is to learn and know more about the subject.
This was the case of a 16 year-old student of Bartow High School in Florida. She only wanted to try an experiment on how some chemicals react with water, but to her dismay, she was accused of felony and even expelled from the school.
Kiera Witmot wanted to see the reaction between some chemicals and water. So she put some household chemicals in a bottle with water. She was so curious to know what the reaction would be like. As such, she carried out the experiment behind the school cafetaria. It was reported that there were kids at the area.
When she tried the experiment, to her surprise, instead of a small smoke, the bottle popped off and the chemical exploded. Oh, don't be scared, no kid was hurt.
After the act, she was accused of felony and kept in police detention. As if that wasn't enough, her school expelled her. Her only aim is to try an experiment.
Her school Principal, Ron Pritchard described her as a nice girl and wasn't notorious.
