US military flew unarmed drones over Nigeria in search of missing schoolgirls

As the search for the 276 missing school girls kidnapped by Islamist sect, Boko Haram goes on, it was gathered that the US military deployed its RQ-4 Global Hawk and MC-12W manned reconnaissance aircraft to patrol over Nigeria on Tuesday, in search of the whereabouts of the missing girls.

The largest US surveillance drone, which first flew in 1998, has a 130 feet wingspan and weighs over 32,000. The surveillance drone can see objects 8700 miles away and operates from America. It can stay aloft for up to 28 hours, housed a number of surveillance equipments such as , infrared sensors, radar and optical.

While the manned MC-12W will provide a bit more observation of Nigeria to locate the area where these girls are being kept by the insurgents. The aircraft is operated by two pilots and two sensor  operators.

It is not known whether these drones can track the exact location where the kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls are for now. That's because the area is heavily forested. We just hope and pray they #BringBackOurGirls
